What Thermal Imaging Finds

Solar panels fail silently. A cell can be degrading, a bypass diode can be shorted, or a wiring connection can be arcing and your system will still produce power, just less of it. Without thermal imaging, these issues go undetected for years.

Our handheld IR camera captures the heat signature of every panel on your roof. Hot spots show up as bright zones on the thermal image, identifying the exact cell, string, or connection with the problem before it causes permanent damage or a fire hazard.

This is the same technology used by utility-scale solar farms to audit their systems annually. We bring it to residential and commercial rooftops across Tampa Bay, and for new S.A.M. subscribers, it is included free.

What We Detect

Issues Found
on Every Scan

1 / 4
01

Hot Spots

A single shaded or damaged cell forces current through a resistive path, generating localized heat. Left unchecked, this degrades the entire panel and can crack the glass permanently.

02

Bypass Diode Failure

Faulty bypass diodes show as uniform panel-level heat signatures. These are common after lightning or surge events and silently reduce output by 30 to 50% per affected panel.

03

Cell Delamination

Moisture infiltration causes the EVA encapsulant to separate from the cell. Thermal imaging shows these as irregular heat patterns across the panel face that visual inspection will never catch.

04

Wiring and Junction Box Issues

Loose MC4 connectors and deteriorating junction boxes run hot under load. These are active fire risks that look completely normal to the eye from the ground or roof.
